Some Jobs Require a Happy Face

If you work in a cubicle all day and don’t interact with the world too much then it really doesn’t matter what your mood is while you work. That’s because the only person your mood is going to affect is you. But if you work with the world around you, especially in a position of service to others, then you really should try to put on a happy face during the working hours regardless of what may be going on with your personal life.
The happy face isn’t necessarily considered a job requirement for many customer service positions but it should be. Let’s say that your job is to assist people in figuring out which type of disability insurance to get. People have a difficult enough time understanding things like the differences between disability insurance companies without adding in the negative attitude of a customer service rep. If you work in a position like this, you should go the extra mile to make sure that your customers feel happy with their experience.
Why should you bother with a happy face? It makes life easier for the people that you’re serving. Because of this, your own life is made easier. And really, isn’t life better when you’re not being grumpy?!
