I finally gave into a friend who has been bugging me to go for an airplane ride with him for a long time. He actually owns his own plane, which I have to guess is a very expensive undertaking. And I know he has been flying forever because he was a fighter pilot in the US Air Force. He actually flew combat missions in Viet Nam and had more than one confirmed kill. So even though I’m afraid of flying, I went along.

So I thought he was messing with me when he announced that something was wrong as the engine started sputtering when we were way up in the sky. But after seeing the serious look on his face I was asking for a parachute! He said that jumping out isn’t the way it works and that we would be doing an emergency landing.

Fortunately there is nothing but wide open space and land for sale around here. Heck, this might be the best state to buy land in because there is tons of acreage for sale in Texas. Anyway, it was a smooth landing on a little dirt road in the middle of nowhere. Oh, and I will never ever fly again!
