Digital cameras are now affordable enough that almost everyone has one. Combined with the right software, this has made it possible for the average person to take better-than-average pictures. In order to excel above this, the photographer now has to go above and beyond the basic point-and-shoot technique and to start exploring ways of taking pictures from a new perspective.

One of the most thrilling ways that a photographer can challenge himself is to take up the art of aerial photography. Not many people have the chance to explore this aspect of taking photos so it’s unique and the images that come out of the art tend to be of higher quality than the average photo. More importantly, these photographers have a really great time while shooting their pictures.

Part of the thrill of this type of photography comes from just being in the air. Part of it comes from the fact that you’re experiencing the world in an entirely new way. And part of it comes from the fact that you’re really challenging yourself to go beyond what you’ve done before. (In fact, people who get into this often challenge themselves further by getting into photogrammetry and other details of the art). These things add up to a thrill that really puts some pizzazz into the photos (and the photographer!)
