Christmas is around the corner. It’s time to start buying presents. But where is the money going to come from? Even though I’ve tried to set aside enough savings throughout the year to afford Christmas, I’m coming up a little bit short. I think that I’ve found a solution that I’m comfortable with. I’m going to sell jewelry that I have saved up in order to be able to afford the Christmas presents, decorations and travel that I want to enjoy this year.

Don’t get me wrong; selling jewelry wasn’t my first option for being able to afford these Christmas treats. I would have preferred to save up enough throughout the year, to budget properly and to plan a frugal Christmas. Things didn’t go the way I’d planned though. Between unexpected medical bills, issues with the car that had to be paid for and a decrease in salary there just wasn’t enough to set aside for Christmas.

Despite this, I’m not sad about selling some jewelry to pay for Christmas. It’s a sacrifice that I’m willing to make. I love Christmas. I love traveling to see my family. I love watching the little ones open glittering gifts. I can buy new jewelry when my finances improve but I can’t ever get those Christmas memories back if I miss out on them.
