Get Over Your Fear of Guns

Having a healthy respect of guns is a good thing, but you have a fear of guns that you would like to get over, here are some ideas for you.
- Go to the firing range. If you’re not ready to practice shooting yet yourself, you can go with friends and watch at first. Getting accustomed to guns — the sound they make, the way they feel in your hands, and the safety rules that should be followed whenever handling them — is a good way to get over a fear of guns.
- Play with toy guns. Some toy guns, such as airsoft guns, are made to resemble real guns very closely. They even have a similar weight. These toys are made by companies such as Tokyo Marui and Echo 1, use compressed gas or air to shoot tiny plastic balls called BBs.
- Take a gun safety class. Part of not being afraid of guns is learning the safety precautions that go along with handling them. If you take a gun safety class, you’ll learn gun safety rules that are useful for protecting yourself and others around guns.
There is a healthy balance to be found between being comfortable with guns and fearing guns. Ideally you should be able to handle them, know what to do, and respect them. A good understanding of gun safe prevents tragic mistakes, such as this sad story of a boy whose father shot and killed him while hunting turkey.
