My Wealthy Relatives

My mom’s side of the family is pretty wealthy, and I can say firsthand that these things don’t necessarily trickle down. My grandfather and uncle are practically made of money, and I don’t even get birthday cards or Christmas cards most years, let alone even a taste of that wealth (in the form of a check).
I remember not too long ago when we were visiting (my grandfather did pay for that, at least), my uncle showed us pictures from a fishing vacation in Canada that he and his son had gone on together. While fishing is not my thing, the pictures were breathtaking. I would love to go there myself!
My husband and I just recently got back from a trip to Europe, and that was possibly a once in a lifetime thing — particularly if we start trying to get pregnant later this year, as we’ve talked about. However, Canada is definitely on my list of places to see if we ever get the chance. Although we planned our last vacation ourselves, it was somewhere both my husband and his friend (who traveled with us) has been a lot, so if we go north (where neither of us have been) I will probably look into Canada tour packages to simplify the planning a little. There are some great Canada train vacations that I would think would be a great way to see some of the sights and still be able to relax.
Of course, it’s probably not an option for us right now, in this economy especially. Too bad we can’t be like my wealthy relatives, without a care in the world — but then again, even if I could, would I want to not care?
