Searching for stress relief

Hi! I’m looking for some information on meditation. A friend of mine recently suggested I look into it to help me lower my stress levels. I’m in my final year of completely my PhD and I am finding that the pressure is really starting to get to me. I’m feeling tense all the time and am starting to have trouble sleeping, so I could really use something to help with stress relief.
While I know that the benefits of meditation could help me, I’m not really sure where to start. I don’t have a lot of extra time to spend researching which meditative styles and techniques would benefit me the most. I want to learn some methods to help me relax overall, but also something to help me in acute moments of stress, like when I want to strangle my advisor!
Does anyone have any experience with biofeedback? I’m interested in it because it looks like a very good diagnostic tool. While I know certain things like my advisor tend to trigger stress and anxiety in me, I think it would be beneficial to see what my other triggers are. This looks like a promising start but I’m looking for anyone who may have had a personal experience with it.
