Hearing aids not just for your grandparents

Hearing aids have become such a standard of care for the elderly, that many people forget they are also used for individuals of all ages. There are a large number of people in this country that suffer from conditions which may inhibit their ability to hear correctly and completely.

From being born deaf or partially deaf, to accident victims, you might be surprised to know that hearing aids are not just for your grandparents anymore.

Devices that help people who suffer from hearing loss come in a variety of forms. From outside the ear, in the ear canal, to cochlear implants, technology has provided a number of solutions that can help restore hearing.

There are also some decidedly low tech options that can be effective for patients with hearing challenges. Often times nothing more than a good ear wax cleaning is needed to remove blockage that diminishes the capacity to enjoy the full spectrum of aural activities. One of the biggest challenges and concerns of health professionals is how ear canal cleaning is handled.

Gone are the days when a child would lay down on its mother’s lap and she would insert a cotton tipped swab to clean the ear. A much safer alternative is using a rubber bulb that inserts wax removal liquid into the ear canal, when then easily and safely flows out.
