My Friend’s First House

One of my best friends and her boyfriend recently bought their first house together.  It is a great starter home — a little older, from the 1950s, but really doesn’t have much in the way of major stuff that needs to be done to it.  It was move in ready, so they were able to get themselves settled right away, and they’ve been very happy with it ever since.

For instance, the kitchen is already remodeled, which is a biggie in old houses like that.  They will need to put new floor tile down in the bathroom, and will probably need to replace the windows at some point, but the only other thing that it needs is a coat of new paint, inside and out.

The backyard is nicely landscaped, for instance, which they have really liked.  In fact, it’s so nice that they spend a lot of time out there, and as a result they’ve been thinking of installing an outdoor kitchen.  In particular, they like the idea of having a built in grill so that they can barbeque outside with friends.

In my experience, it’s much easier said than done to make improvements to your first house — heaven knows, hubby and I still have yet to make the ones we’d planned when we moved in 3 years ago.  But hopefully my friend will have more motivation (and more resources) than we do, because having barbeques at her house this summer sounds like a fantastic idea!

Lol! Yeah, it’s easier to convince and encourage other people to do more upgrades in their house than it is in your own.

A barbeque sounds great though. Hope they instill the built-in grill soon! Lol.

Wow, their own built in grill? I’ve always wanted one of those! And I’m actually saving up for that.

Can I come to their barbeque parties too? Lol!

A nice backyard is a must for me. I like having parties and I love holding it outdoors because there’s more room and it’s just more comfortable.

My husband and I are also planning to install a built-in grill since we always invite our friends over for barbecue parties.

They’re lucky. My backyard was a mess! We had to do so much to improve it. But I’m not really complaining coz we love to work on our house.

It’s so beautiful now and we always have dinner parties out on the back all the time.

It’s been five years since we’ve moved in to our first house and we only started remodeling about two years ago.

First thing we had improved was the back. This way, we get to keep everyone in back while improvements inside the house can stil continue.
