Saving Time And Resources

What is the future of housing in America? Are we, as Americans going to continue our pattern of urban sprawl that has people working downtown in a city environment, and then commuting back and forth to their homes in the suburbs? It seems like a terrible waste of time as well as resources. Should people really be driving from their offices in Los Angeles all the way back to their townhomes in Carlsbad? I would suggest that as we move into a greener era of living that perhaps the basic concept of how we arrange our communities should be forced to change.
Now don’t misunderstand; I’m a red blooded American, and I would never suggest something like communal living. Instead, I’m suggesting that perhaps people could live where they work. Again, I’m not suggesting that you take your sleeping bag with you to your cubicle. I’m just saying that if you work in Carlsbad for example, you could live in one of the Carlsbad lofts within walking distance of your work.
Or even better, how about having a home office? Perhaps utilize the concept of telecommuting? After all, most people with cubicle type jobs do very few things in their cubicles that they could not do from their own home. The savings in time and resources would be unimaginable.
