New Year and New Me
By KarenV in Shopping | 11 comments
Everything is going to be new this year; or rather, renewed. I just ordered new sheets from Garnet Hill (read: pure sin, but visually prim). I took out three books from the library. I signed up for a library card, for that matter. I checked out a little Herman Hesse and some Maya Angelou; practically guaranteed to change your life. I tossed the old carpets in favor of my hardwoods. I donated my old books (to the library, obviously). I donated my old clothes for tax credit. I’m repainting my bedroom and my living room to reflect my new found vibrance. I’m using Andersen renewal for my window installation.
I’m throwing out my patio door. In fact, I’m throwing out most of my doors. I’m sick of them. I’m sick of boundaries and barriers and breakdowns. I’m designing a new layout for the garden in the back, to feed my aesthetic soul. I’m quitting my job and possibly trying to go into business for myself. I am sucking the poison out of my life and spitting it on the ground of the holistic world. It may sound radical, and yes, I’ve never really been the radical type, but I’m not happy with my life. Instead of one change, why not make many changes? Statistics will inevitably be on my side.

Good for you for getting rid of all that is bad in your life. When people say “life’s too short” they often overlook the fact that life is too short to keep on living in the negative things we so often live in.
I, too, have recently made similar changes. I also quit a job I absolutely HATED and am now working for myself, doing a job I love.
I hope many people stop by this blog and take your example.

Good stuff! I try to break a big resolution down into smaller more reachable goals and it works great for me.

Positive change is the best thing you can do in life, although the biggest driving force in human psychology is to remain consistent to your identity, it is very hard to change, but good luck.
I’ve been pushing for a while, tough going, but nothing to lose
