The Delicacy of Wedding Decor

There is something that has always interested me about weddings. It’s the fact that the decor that is usually used to make weddings special is typically so delicate. Just think about it - from the lace on the veil to the cursive writing on the wedding stationery, the little touches that we use to make a wedding perfect are all designed with a sense of frailty about them.

This interests me because of the fact that marriages themselves can’t be delicate if they’re going to last. Marriages have to be built upon strength. It takes a lot of inner strength to be able to make a life work with someone else through the good times and the bad.

Of course, I guess it wouldn’t make too much sense to have symbols of strength and power at a wedding. Harsh materials for a wedding dress or a cake that looked like a building with a terrifically sound foundation would erase some of the magic that we associate with weddings. I guess that’s why the wedding decor is often delicate; it allows for that perfectly magical feeling we like to sense at weddings.

Still, I think that when it comes to my own wedding, there are going to be some symbols of strength. I’ll throw out the butterfly wedding invitations and instead go with adventurous DIY wedding invitations that represent the true spirit of what I think a marriage should be like!
