Working from the Local Coffee Shop

I gave up my day job to be a writer. Actually, that isn’t true: I gave up my job to become a full time mother but decided I needed to do something to stimulate my brain so I started writing in my spare time. After realizing that I’d never get spare time with my children around, I decided to abandon my mothering responsibilities once a week to work from the local coffee shop to write and work on my new business. It has given me a new appreciation for learning new skills and trying to grow into a new business.
Armed with my laptop, my cell phone, my Motorola earpiece, extra cellular phone batteries, and notepad and paper, I try to find inspiration to create something that represents my thoughts. Fueled by a coffee fix, I write using my children, my husband, my friends and our lives as topics, I find the time alone writing rejuvenates me. The phone rings a few times and I take the calls using commander series headsets so I can keep typing while I am fielding calls from the kids. The time writing helps me clear my head, practice my new trade and enjoy a little alone time.
