Why You Should Stay at a B&B

I’ve stayed at quite a few bed and breakfasts, or B&Bs, in the past.  For instance, there was one New England bed and breakfast my mom and I used to stay in when we would visit my grandpa back east.  Nowadays we stay with my grandpa, since his second wife has passed away (she didn’t like us staying there), but I have to say I miss staying at the B&B.

Bed and breakfasts are great because they have such a different atmosphere than a hotel or motel.  In hotels and motels, everything is commercialized and huge, for one thing, and you don’t get very much personalized service.  A B&B, on the other hand, is typically pretty small and cozy, and they usually have quaint, old-fashioned atmospheres.  Plus, there is absolutely no contest between a fancy, home-cooked breakfast and the free “continental breakfast” offered by many hotels and motels.

You can find a lot of great bed and breakfasts in New England, so if you are going there on vacation, I highly recommend staying at a B&B.  To get you started, here are some listings for Vermont bed and breakfasts and quaint little Massachusetts inns.
